🦴 Yeti’s Corner
First off, let me clear something up – just because I’m the size of a miniature horse doesn’t mean I sleep standing up in a stable! Nope, I’ve got my special ways of getting comfy that might surprise you.
My absolute favorite position? The “dead cockroach.” That’s what my humans call it when I flip onto my back with all four legs sticking straight up in the air. Sure, I look ridiculous, but it feels fantastic! Plus, it keeps my belly nice and cool, which is essential when you’re carrying around this much fluff.
Then there’s my classic side-sleeping pose, where I stretch out like I’m trying to take up the entire living room floor. Sometimes I even claim the whole couch – sorry, Mom and Dad! My legs stick out everywhere, and I’ve been known to kick someone walking by accidentally. Don’t take it personally; I’m just dreaming about chasing squirrels.
When I’m feeling a little anxious or it’s cold outside, I do the “Great Dane donut.” I curl up in a big circle with my nose tucked under my tail. It’s pretty funny watching humans try to figure out where my head went.
The best part about being a Great Dane? No matter how I sleep, my humans think it’s adorable, even when I’m snoring like a freight train!
🦴 3 Mindset Shifts for First-Time Great Dane Owners

Great Dane with a smiling family
Hey, fellow future Dane parent! I’m Yeti—the 150-pound lap dog who thinks your couch belongs to me—and if you’re new to the world of gentle giants, you probably have a head full of questions (and maybe nerves). Let me walk you through the real deal. Raising a Great Dane isn’t just about learning to dodge the drool. It’s about changing the way you think. Here are the three most significant mindset shifts that’ll set you up for success (and a LOT of cuddles).
1. From “Overwhelmed by Size” to “Master of Calm Routines”
Yes, I’m huge. I knock over coffee tables without even trying. But here’s the secret: the bigger the Dane, the more they crave structure. We thrive on routines—meal times, walks, family time, and snuggle sessions. Think of it like this: my brain is as big as my body, but my attention span is… not. So, please keep it simple! Stick to daily rhythms and clear rules, and we’ll both be less stressed (with fewer flying coffee mugs).
Pro tip: Positive reinforcement works. Treats + calm commands = happy, obedient giant. Learn more about daily life and routines with Great Danes.
2. From “Going It Alone” to “Lean on the Great Dane Community”
You don’t have to figure this out solo! There’s a whole pack of Great Dane lovers out here. I’ve seen my humans join groups, follow trusted blogs, and even binge Great Dane podcasts on long walks. The more you connect, the easier it gets. From health scares (we’re famous for bloat) to drool hacks and couch-covering tips, someone’s been there, done that, and has a towel to prove it.

3. From “Worried About Chaos” to “Celebrating the Joy of Gentle Giants”
Look, I’ll be honest: you’ll lose personal space. And probably a sandwich or two (we’re expert food thieves). But you’ll gain a best friend who lives to make you laugh, guards your family with their whole heart, and melts into a puddle of love at the first “good boy!”
Focus on the joy. Every slobbery kiss, every oversized cuddle, every goofy moment is what makes Great Dane life unforgettable. We’re built for love, loyalty, and maximum snuggles.
